Breast Cancer Detection - Women’s Health Issues

Breast Cancer Awareness has increased in the United States and has led to the earlier detection, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. Early intervention has resulted in an increase in the number of women who are survivors of this disease.

There are steps women can and should take which can help with early detection of this disease. Women need to perform monthly self-breast examinations, which may help them find a breast lump. Any woman, who is not familiar with how to perform a self-breast exam, should contact her doctor who will provide instruction. If a woman finds a breast lump, she should bring it to the attention of her doctor for further evaluation. Women should also obtain mammograms as instructed by their doctor. Many times a mammogram will detect an abnormality that might not otherwise be found.

Remember, if you are not satisfied with a medical evaluation you have received, don’t hesitate to obtain a second medical opinion.

And, if you believe a physician or other medical professional has failed to detect your breast cancer, you may have a claim. Contact registered nurse attorney Angela Vagotis at 330-456-4122 or fill out this form.
